The first stage of our learning process starts with our emotions, without them there is no learning.
Spanishmente follows a cognitive and constructivist educational method, paying particular attention to games.
When children play, their brain generates a series of hormones. These simultaneously create some kind of substances that activate the brain. Some of these hormones are serotonin (which reduces anxiety and regulates the state of mind or mood), acetylcholine (which boosts concentration, memory and attention and learning state), endorphins and encephalins (that reduces arterial tension, favours creativity, gives a state of calm, wellbeing and happiness) and the dopamine (that produces a high physical motivation and makes muscles work with the impetus of the play).
People learn through emotions. Emotions are the glue of memory. They influence it. Curiosity incites learning, however, stress, boredom and anxiety block it. It is very important to have in mind that emotions are in the person who teaches.
It is not possible to learn a new language without any guide and interaction. Getting free resources and watching videos on Youtube it is not enough. We are born to be social.
As a teacher, I do not have the perfect learning formula, it depends on each person, each child has a different mind, and a different experience of life. What is useful for one is not useful for another. For that reason, I am committed to try and find the best formula I can provide to the student.
I use various resources such as adapted bingos, reading of bilingual tales, jigsaws for in-person classes, teaching cards, memory games, song learning (including some choreographies), handcrafts, etc. Resources are unlimited!
"I am a creation of Cristina´s mum. She and I live together and she asks me many times to help her during her lessons. I love to talk to children!".
"We are made of wool and we are always happy. We are very pleased to participate in Cristina´s lessons because we play very fun games".
"I met Cristina when she was in Ibiza. She loved my dress and my flowers crown. I love participating in her games with her, the children and my other colleagues".
"We help Cristina with kids who have a beginner level of Spanish. We speak English and we love talking".
Recommended for all those who live far from El Puerto de Santa María, Jerez de la Frontera, Rota or the village of Cádiz and would like to try the online classes.
In case online lessons don´t suit well to you and your kid and you live in El Puerto de Santa María, Jerez de la Frontera, Rota or the village of Cádiz.
There could be a lot of reasons to learn a new language. I propose remote A1 Spanish lessons for your kid. We will use the platform of Zoom. The lessons will be individual and focused on your child's learning process. Be ready to see your child saying Spanish words and sentences, singing songs in Spanish and having fun while he or she learns this language!
Does your kid need extra help in Spanish while he/she is studying in a Spanish speaker school?
I´ve known the case of some foreign families that come to live in Spain whose kids don´t speak Spanish. It´s discouraging and frustrating for them to stay in class and don´t understand many things that the teacher says.
So why not try to get a private tutor who can help your kid in this situation?
I can be there for your kid´s idiomatic´s necessity. Spanish lessons for beginner students

First, the child's mother, father, or tutor will arrange a meeting with me, where we'll get to know each other. It's the time when I'll meet the young student. I want you to know me, and I want to know about your son/daughter's desires to learn. Why he/ she wants to learn Spanish and what his/ her parent's needs are. It will be a free twenty minutes call. After that, we'll arrange the date of our first lesson.
The first lesson will take place once the student and I know each other. Although the programme’s contents are fixed, we’ll talk about goals, and I’ll facilitate him/her specific activities. The first lesson will allow me to determine how the student uses Spanish.
Considering that the mother, father or tutor must be present in the initial meeting that will take place before the lessons start, it´s not necessary her/his presence during the class; just in case the child is very little and needs some help. Also, it´s good to have an older person around at home to assist the child managing the PC.
A PC, laptop, or tablet with a camera. Good connection to the Internet. A quiet and bright place.
These are only in-person lessons. Why? Because in this stage of their development, children learn by connection and interaction with real objects. They don´t have the autonomy yet to be without the total supervision of an adult. That´s why I prefer to go to the child´s home and teach him/her Spanish in person, helping him/her develop their knowledge of the Spanish language, the word´s connection to real things, their memory and how to express of his/her feelings.
How do I do this?
I work with materials like wheels of words, board games (if the child is too little, I use other alternatives), memorization and imitation games, toys, and cards. I consider that when they´re so young, they learn in a very experimental way.

If you formulate to yourself these or other questions that drive you to the conclusion that in-person classes are the best options for your son or daughter, please let me show you the solution I propose to you: I can go to your home and teach your kid Spanish there at home.

Spanishmente can help your son or daughter learn or improve his/her Spanish knowledge by going through content such as the Spanish alphabet, greetings, to see the difference between the uses of the verb "ser" and the verb "estar", the knowledge of the verbs of the first, second and third conjugation, of the non-personal form of the verbs (infinitive, gerund, and participle), to talk about the family, to give physical and personal descriptions, to talk about professions, to know the use of nouns, gender and number in Spanish, to say and to ask for the time, question sentences, etc.
They are lessons that are totally tailored to your son or daughter's learning, but they are specially focussed on beginner speakers. We will work on the grammar, reading comprehension, listening and speaking skills.
